We took a long train trip to see our good friend (Gabriel's third grandmother) Cameron in July. Here are the pictures from that trip.

Our train was over 4 hours late leaving Houston...

Finally the train was coming so we waited by the tracks.

By now Gabriel was bored and hot!

Once we got on the train he liked checking out the new space.

We had a small sleeper, and his favorite thing was to try to pull the emergency window open.

No, I mean it was really small!

We had dinner in our sleeper the first evening. It was great food.

Gabriel was surprisingly content on the train.

We played a couple of games of rummy.

Lacey and her grandmother were in the sleeper across the hall from us. Gabriel made friends with them.

I slept with Gabriel at my feet in the boppy - he slept really well.

Tim slept in the tiny upper bunk.

Once we got to Cameron's in Vero Beach, Gabriel and her cat Mugsy got to check each other out.

Gabriel and Cameron got along famously right away.

Cameron and a nice guy at Barnes and Noble compared grandchildren.

Gabriel was also flirting with a two year old girl at the next table.

Then we went to Wild Oats to get some good organic food!

We had afternoon thundershowers each day.

This is where Gabriel played in Cameron's living room.

He also got to put his toes in the Atlantic Ocean.

Aww...

Mugsy really seemed to get along fine with the invader.

We went for a walk around Cameron's neighborhood.

Florida has lots of birds and lizards. We didn't see any alligators this time, though.

Cameron's house is in a golfing community, so her back yard is actually part of a golf course.

We saw a huge (like a coyote) red fox come really close to Cameron's house one day.

Buttering up baby for the sun.

Splashing! Swimming is so fun.

We had dinner at Nino's one night. Gabriel likes to eat my purse straps.

Betty works for Cameron and is also her friend.

A nice view of the back yard.

7 months old!!!

All too soon we had to come home. This is the Orlando train station.

A very sad goodbye. :(

Thanks to Cameron, our room on the way home was much much nicer! We had our own sink and shower, and way more space.

A quick walk around at one of our stops.

The bigger room had a nice mirror which Gabriel enjoyed.

Eating in the dining car was a fun change of pace from the room.

Louisiana marshes.

We saw a lot of industrial stuff.

They bury people above ground in Louisiana - see New Orleans in the background. This cemetery was GIGANTIC.

This was our actual sleeper car, stopped in New Orleans.

Mississippi River.

Pretty storm at sunset on the way home.
